It’s finally here! Shontelle’s debut album Shontelligence is in stores NOW! Be sure to go out to your local store and pick up a copy or download it from iTunes. Below are some of the prices for various stores:
I just want to apologize for not updating for the last several days. I’ve been pretty busy working on a couple things. Firstly, I’ve been working like crazy on my Rihanna site (Rihanna.nu for those who don’t know. Should be up early next month). Secondly, though, I’ve been working on the full version of ShontelleWeb.com. I have the layout finished and now I’m trying to get all of the content finished up and ready to be launched. I’m hoping a week or so and everything will be all finished and ready for launching so keep checking back for that. Also, be sure to keep sending in those Shontelligence contest entries. ;]
Barbados-born R&B-pop singer Shontelle Layne has more in common with Rihanna than a nationality, a manager and killer bone structure. They share hilarious childhood memories, too. Of serving as the superstar’s counselor at “cadet camp,” (a military-style program for teens), she recalls, “Rihanna was a good cadet, though there was one occasion when I had to make her drop and give me 10.” Shontelle, 23, displays the same cheekiness when describing her recent run-in with Aretha Franklin in Saks Fifth Avenue’s shoe department. “After she and her bodyguards deemed I wasn’t a threat, she let me say hello,” laughs the Westchester resident. “How could I not go up to the Queen of Soul?” Thanks to her Top 40 hit “T-Shirt” (in which she references Jimmy Choos so frequently you’d think she was angling for an endorsement deal), the songstress is now on a speeding train to success. “Everything happened at once,” she says of the past year. Her anthem “Battle Cry” landed on the Barack Obama fundraiser record Yes We Can: Voices of a Grassroots Movement, she walked in an Elle magazine show during Fashion Week and her debut album, Shontelligence, drops November 18. “The first time I heard myself on the radio I freaked out,” she says. “I still get chills.” Welcome to your new island.
Before I start the post, since I forgot to mention it earlier, I just wanted to send out a huge congrats to Senator Barack Obama for winning the US Presidential Election. This was a huge win for him as well as the USA as a whole. I also want to send out a big well done to everyone who voted regardless of who you voted for, you guys made the difference here. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to vote this election (I’m a year to young), but that definitely didn’t stop me from trying to have my part in it. Now that Senator Obama is officially going to be the new US President, this definitely should mean great things to come for everyone and this country, so again, thanks and well done to everyone who voted. :]
Ok, now that I’ve said that, onto the post… I was thinking and I thought it would be a great idea to hold a contest here at ShontelleWeb.com. As you all know, Shontelle’s album Shontelligence comes out on November 18, and I would like to hold a contest to give some of you a chance to win a copy of her album. I’m going to buy two extra copies of Shontelligence to give away and to the two lucky winners, you will be receiving a free copy courtesy of ShontelleWeb.com! I will be taking entries until 11:59 PM on November 17th. Once I have received all of the entries, I will pull two names and those will be the winners. Instructions on how to enter are as follows:
1. Send an e-mail to trystan[at]shontelleweb.com by 11:59 PM on November 17th
2. Include “Shontelligence Contest Entry” as the subject line and include your name and e-mail address in the e-mail
3. Unfortunately, this contest is only open to US residents. Sorry! :[
Also, I wanted to get everyone’s opinion on another idea: I was also thinking it would be cool to have a message board here on ShontelleWeb.com for all of us fans to chat with each other. If you all would like that, leave a comment here or e-mail me or something and let me know. If I get enough people who are interested, I will for sure start work on one and get it up asap.
I’ve added a bunch of screen caps from random YouTube videos to the gallery. There are still several videos I need to get capped so check for those soon. I’ll also be capping the J-Status “Roll It” music video as well as “T-Shirt” music video soon.
Just wanted to add that I left all of these caps as well as all of the photos in the gallery untagged for you guys. If any of you want to use any of them on your site or anything, I just ask that you please credit ShontelleWeb.com. Thanks! :]
I’ve uploaded a photo shoot that was taken earlier this year by Anthony Cutajar to the gallery. Unfortunately, they’re tagged MQ. If I can find them untagged/HQ, though, I’ll add them asap. Enjoy!
Hey guys. Sorry I’ve not update for the past couple of days. I’ve had some things going on that kept me from it. But here is what is supposed to be the official track listing for Shontelle’s album Shontelligence. Not sure if it’s truly been confirmed or not but it’s something to go by.
Also, just want to say that if anyone is ever having problems with the gallery, usually you can just refresh the page again and it’ll start working, sometimes it takes a few minutes, though. I just want to apologize to anyone who has any trouble!

Shontelle’s official site was updated twice today. The first post was about a new “Battle Cry” video that her label posted on YouTube. The video is a Barack Obama tribute video. It’s definitely worth the watch so check it out below.
The second post was about Shontelle being featured in the December issue of XXL Magazine. I’m not entirely sure when the issue hits news stand, once it does, though, I will be sure to let everyone know. :]
Also, just want to plug my site for Nicole Scherzinger, Nicole-Scherzinger.us. I just recently took over the site. I’m still trying to get it back on it’s feet and completely updated but it has been relaunched. So for all of you Nicole/PCD fans, I’d appreciate very greatly if you would check it out and let me know what you think! Visit Nicole-Scherzinger.us
Following on the heels of the success of Barbados native Rihanna, another Bajan songbird has hit the Billboard mainstream charts looking to score similar success.
Shontelle is an irresistible new talent who is not only well rounded and confident, but she has the vocal chops and the songwriting sass to eliminate any form of competition within a quick swipe.
Earlier this week, when this writer caught up with Shontelle via telephone from New York, the singer was quite bubbly and excited about the early success of her single T-Shirt. “I’m not at all surprised at the success of the song. The whole theme of the song is something that everyone can relate to. I’m just happy that all of our predictions about the song are finally coming through,” Shontelle said matter-of-factly.
Managed by Barbados music manager, Sonia Mullins, and signed to SRP/SRC/Universal Motown, Shontelle’s T-Shirt has shot into the Top 30 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song has maintained steady rotation at more than 150 mainstream Top 40 rhythmic crossover radio stations across America. The video clip for the track which is in heavy rotation at BET, MTV and VH1, has drawn over 1.1 million audio streams on Shontelle’s MySpace page and a similar number of video hits on YouTube.com.
“The musical journey for me has been pretty exciting because it’s everything that I have wanted to do. So far so good,” Shontelle explained.
The song T Shirt came about after she was in the studios trying come up with the idea for a song. “I got a phone call to check my e-mail because a song was e-mailed to me. Read More…
